alphalpha cubes versus alphalpha pellets

We have three 25 year old+ horses that we rescued. Due to the fact that two of them had been so severely neglectd they cannot eat hay. we were giving them alphalpha cubes to supplement their diets.. recently my husband dedcided to switch from cubes to alphalpha pellets. is there a difference or any problem with that. thank you so much

Re: alphalpha cubes versus alphalpha pellets

Hello Carolyn,

You can use either pellets or cubes, but it is best to moisten them because horses are more likely to choke on them if fed dry.

Also, include another hay stretcher in their diet or a timothy/alfalfa cube, rather than straight alfalfa.

Thank you for caring for these old guys. They are very lucky to have found you!

All the best,

Dr. Getty
