2005 cabin mates don't want my non-golden dogs
My Kia is a rescued 10 year old golden. I want to bring her little brother and sister who are dachshunds. My cabin mates from 2005 have just told me that they don't want non-golden room mates. Gail has offered to find me another place. Does everyone feel so strongly that "only goldens need apply?" If most people want a "golden weekend" then that's the way it is. Kia is active and Goldstock 2005 was the first place she found total acceptance. I don't want to ruin the golden joy of Goldstock for anyone. I just thought I'd ask. |

Ok - this is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard concerning a weekend that is sopposed to be full of fun and dogs and rescue. It just sounds all very snobby to me. Who are these people? I would be upset and would make a little noise about it. If all dogs are welcome (I thought they were) then you bring all your babies and have fun! |

Well, no one complained a few years back when I brought my Klaus (Big Brat Dog). They dubbed him the "Pointy Earred Golden". I'm not sure why anyone should have a problem with other breeds coming to camp as long as they are good with other dogs and people. I'm sure Gail can find you rommates who would be happy to accomodate you and all of your babies. Just a thought....were the roomates afraid the bigger dogs might get too rough accidently while playing and injure the smaller puppers? |

The other goldens were the very laid back variety of golden. My Kia on the other hand is more "high energy" which is why I'm her 4th and final home. They never complained about Kia. She was very good with their dogs and with them. I'm thinking (with a lot of input from my husband) that because Kia is almost a "special needs" girl (her love battery is never full) that I'll either just bring her or just bring her and Sam who could be a golden in standard dachshund disguise because he is so very laid back. I look forward to introducing you to my Kia. She is a red golden that loves to love. Thank you for your thoughts on this issue. |

Wow! This will be our first year and I am truly disappointed in hearing your news. Some golden owners should be more like their dogs, peace, love, and goldens and everyone is welcome to the party! Hope to meet you and the "gang". Keep your heart golden! Trudi and Clowey |

Who of us who have been to Goldstock don't welcome and love Georgie Bahler's big boy Andy who is a Great Dane? A couple of years ago, someone from Atlanta brought thier rescued Newfie named "Cowboy" who was wonderful and a welcome addition to Goldstock too!! I am currently fostering an old english sheepdog for OES rescue right now, and thought of bringing him as well. While the event is to celebrate rescue & Goldens diversity at Goldstock is a good thing! I say bring the "little munchkins!" :-) I'm sure my sheepdog would love to meet them, and so would my Goldens!! |

My golden, Seamus, is bringing his best friend in the whole world...a beagle named Myles. The more the merrier, I think! |

Rachel This is my 7th and Lois' 8th year at Goldstock. We are from the famous Geriatric Cabin. We have 5 Goldens, 3 Aussies and 1 Labrador in our cabin. Bring 'em on. Stop by for cocktails, the drinking flag is always up. Our theme for this year is the RED, WHITE AND BLUE. We help run the olympics, Karaoke and auction so please introduce yourself. You will recognize me, I am self proclaimed "certifiable". lol John / Lois [:) |

John and Co., I'll be bringing some red/white/blue flashing heart and star pins to share. I also do Longaberger. Can I donate Longaberger baskets for the silent auction (in Kia's name of course) to benefit the rescues? My Sam loves my baskets. He loves them too much. Kia loves her furry babies and leaves the baskets to Sam and the kitties. We are looking forward to seeing you on Friday evening. |
