There is a chorus in there, but it may be more than some. The studio is a wonderful place for recording, and Journey used that to the max. I'm using a Les Paul when I do the tune, and it's with the bridge pickup. It sounds like Neal is using a strat, although I believe he's on the neck pickup for that "round sound" on the lower notes. I can't really tell you how to duplicate it, as when and if he were to ever play it on stage, I'm sure it would sound different. I'll mess with some sounds and see if I can help you more.
