Hi Ray, you may remember me as i asked you for advice on here 2 months ago about buying a used 2005 Ford Focus. Bad news: bought the car, but got hit by another car 2 weeks later! Nobody hurt but my car was a total loss so now looking to buy another Focus similar.
Not sure what to offer for the car. FYI i live in Ottawa, Ontario so we're talking Canada prices and KM's not miles. Buying it at same dealer i bought my other 2005 Focus ZX5 SES, they are basically identical cars but other had 51,000km, sunroof, tinted windows, and was black. I paid $9700 for the previous car, sticker price was $10400.
This Focus has much lower miles (and a few less options) so not sure what to offer. Their sticker-price is $11888. I'm thinking maybe $10200-$10500? What should i offer?
- also, last time they charged me $330 for admin fees. Won't pay them this time, but how do i reject them without them just adding the $330 to the negotiation price?
- last time they also charged me $180 for theft-protection etching without giving me the option. Is this just a cash-grab that i can reject to pay?
sorry Ray dont mean to be pushy, but if you could answer at least my price question ASAP i would greatly appreciate it as i'm headed to the dealer to try to make a deal Tuesday morning.
35,000km is low and worth somewhere around what you got in mind, but add the extra fees anf the deal then becomes not as attractive.
A few months ago when supply was at a high some dealers were selling these units in GTA for around the $10K range with average Km's
I really like the Km's, start low with final offer as high as $10,700 " adding only taxes and licence " ,,,,, then do the moon walk, the adm fees is a cash cow, and the etching is a total JOKE.
Ray, went into the dealer this morning and they didn't accept my offer so i walked. Gonna email you at paulsenray@yahoo.com (hopefully u still use this email).
