I was fortunate to have Karl Hess speak to my college class in DC in 1978. At that time the IRS was 'looking for him', he was promoting the barter system and using it to 'hide' from the IRS. Normally in economic courses they would use a straight line to put where capitalism, communism, etc. fell in relation to each other. Mr. Hess curved this line, and discussed what the resulting 'gap' represented. He was one of the best speakers we had in that program. Very impressive.
