Hi Cameron,

You can feed alfalfa pellets just as you would any other forage. You can feed approximately 1.0 - 1.5 % of his body weight in forage. That would include all of his grazing. So, if he weighs 500 lbs, for example, he’ll need between 5 and 7.5 lbs of forage each day. So, if he is getting forage from your pasture, or hay, you can start by giving him 1 lb of alfalfa pellets at each meal (assuming you feed two times each day).

Not knowing what else he is eating, I cannot be more specific than that. However, alfalfa pellets are a great way to give him the protein quality he needs and extra calcium.
