Probiotic for founder

You suggested I feed a probiotic. I feed EquiPride which is vit., min. and digestive aid. Do you think it will be fine or should I use the Forco I have? Thanks

Re: Probiotic for founder

Hi Kelly,

The EquiPride is an excellent all purpose top dressing that also contains pre-biotics to help maintain a normal bacterial flora. And, for every day, maintenance use, this is all you would require.

However, during an acute attack of laminitis, the bacteria are dying and releasing endotoxins into the bloodstream. So, it is very important to assist your horse in replenishing a healthy bacterial flora level. Therefore, the Forco should be added as a temporary measure to add bacteria until symptoms are relieved.

All the best,

Dr. Getty
