Bumps

Dear Dr. Getty,
My horse has alot of bumps on her neck and on the underside of her jaw bone,please tell me what causes this and can I give her benadryl?

Where are you from? Long Lane Missouri

Hello Debbie,

This is best diagnosed by a veterinarian. If there is no hair loss, or crusty areas, it is likely due to insect bites. Take measures to prevent further bites and you can put Caladryl lotion or an allergy ointment that contains Benedryl, on the bumps, but I would not recommend giving oral Benedryl without your vet’s suggestion.
