buckeye feeds

Hi Dr. Getty

What are your views on the Buckeye horse feed line? Good/bad/marginal?

Thanks

Re: buckeye feeds

Hi Kelly,

As with most large feed companies, there are some products that I like, and many that I do not. Buckeye offers many sweet feeds and grain-based feeds that I do not recommend. Also, many of their feeds are mainly made from corn, which is not ideal. I do not like offering corn to horses because of its poor pre-cecal digestive ability. However, their Grow N Win product is very useful for young horses who are in compromised situations. And, their Wrangler hay extender is worthwhile.

Thanks for asking.

All the best,

Dr. Getty
