Extruded feeds

Hey
i was just wondering, i have an assignment on extruded feeds and there is one question that i just cant get an answer for: im sposed to comment on what extruded feed does for digestability but all i can get anywhere is that it increases digestibility, nothing else. i need to know how,why, etc etc. its very frustrating. can anyone help??

Hi Jodie,

Extruded feeds have been pre-cooked, which softens the fiber content of forages and grains, allowing the digestive enzymes to be more accessible to the carbohydrates, proteins, and fats in these feed stuffs. So, the result is “increased digestibility.”
