Blue Orchard hay

Sorry for another question Dr. Getty, but was wondering if you had any idea the sugar % in the blue orchard grass hay? That is what I currently use for my 2 horses but as I said in another post I have to keep the sugar and carb's down for my qh. So didn't know if you knew. Thanks Vicky

Re: Blue Orchard hay

Hello Vicky,

Blue Orchard grass hay has a lower sugar content than most hays, so there is no need to worry about this. Your concern should be with grain and sugars. Feed your horses as much hay as they want.

Re: Blue Orchard hay

Dr. Getty - Thanks for the response on my hay. They love this hay and right now we are working on getting them slowly switched over to there Triple Crown lite. I'm going to take 10 days to do it, will that work. I'm doing 1/2 TC and 1/2 of there other they have been on. Thanks Vicky

Re: Blue Orchard hay

Hi Vicky,

Yes, slowly changing is best. Take about a week to 10 days to gradually add more Triple crown and less of the other feed.
