Cash, trying Valerian Root

Hi Dr. Getty. Thank you again for getting my B-Plex ordered. I just noticed you mentioned to someone about trying Valerian Root for a calming method. What about trying that for Cash also. Where would I find it, or is it the adult type you could use, just open the capsule and pour over the feed? I used to take this to sleep at night. I thought that would also calm him down. Just wondering. Thanks Vicky

Re: Cash, trying Valerian Root

Hi Vicky,

Valerian root is an herb, and like all herbs, contains diluted forms of drugs. It does have a calming effect, but it does not cure anything. In Cash's case, there may be a B vitamin deficiency that needs addressing and if the B Complex helps him, it indicates that the deficiency has been cured. So, I would much rather seek to cure a deficiency or a disorder, than perhaps mask it with a drug.

Valerian root can be helpful on a temporary basis, for stressful situations.

Thanks for asking! Great question!

OK, I totally understand, and as usual you are so awesome in answering these questions. I will stick with the B-plex when I receive it. Thanks and Hugs, Vicky
