Raspberry leaf

I have heard that raspberry leaf is good for mares behavior and reproductive health. It claims to improve the mood of cranky mares both during heat cycles and inbetween. Do you have any experience with this herb? Should I try it?

Re: Raspberry leaf

Hi Paula,

I'm sorry -- I do not have any experience with this herb. I would be cautious, however, in giving an herb to a pregnant mare since herbs contain diluted drugs.

If you mare is moody, it may be a borderline nutrient deficiency such as a B vitamin or magnesium deficiency.

All the best,

Re: Raspberry leaf

From what I have read, People use it during pregnancy to relieve symptoms of morning sickness. I also read several studies claiming that it shortened delivery times due to the toning it caused on the uterus. I have only read a little about its use in horses. Mare Magic is just 100% raspberry leaf, It makes some pretty substantial claims about it usfullness with horses. I was interested because it did seem to help humans. Thanks for replying!
