vitamin overdose

Hello Dr. Getty,

I have pony that is always sleepy and have a poor appetite; And multi vitamins or B-vitamins are not working so sometimes I decide to give him to much vitamins such vitamin 12 would it be bad for his body? Or can recommend some tips that works better.

Where are you from? Philippines

Re: vitamin overdose

Hi Herbert,

Additional B12 would be fine and not at all dangerous. But, before you try that, I would consider giving your horse Ration Plus. His issue may have to do with the health of his bacterial flora living in his hind gut and this product will boost their overall health and numbers, making his digestion more efficient. He will get more energy from his feed as a result.

Give him a double dose (2 teaspoons/day) for a while until you see results.

Keep me posted.

All the best,
