Pecans

I was asked this by a friend and didn't know the answer. Are pecan trees safe for horses? Is there anything about the leaves, or bark, or pecans themselves that could be an issue? They are moving and there are pecan trees on their new property. Thanks!

Re: Pecans

Hi Tiffini,

Pecan trees are safe for horses. But, they are not safe from horses. Your horses will likely destroy them!

Re: Pecans

So there's no chance of them "overdoing" it? I'm from florida and have no clue how much pecan trees produce - I've never even seen one! (I gotta get out more!LOL!)

Re: Pecans

Hi Tiffini,

No problem with them at all. They are very large, beautiful shade trees and produce fruit (nuts) in the spring. Great for pies, I agree!
