Vaccines

Thanks for responding to my last question. But I have another. Is a rabies vaccine a needed vaccine? Should I give it to my horse? Is there a large or small chance of him getting it. He lives in a stall all day except for when he gets turned out in the indoor arena. So is a rabies vaccine needed for him. Also I was wondering if you could tell me a little about PHF vaccines.

Re: Vaccines

Hi Joey,

Vaccines are best discussed with your veterinarian. In many areas, rabies vaccines are required just in case your horse were to bite anyone, for example. And, if there are any animals that could carry rabies into your barn area, this would be a concern.

But, vaccines are generally recommended based on the laws in the area along with the types of diseases that are prevalent. So, your vet would be your best resource.

All the best,
