Mane and tail growth

Hello
I was wondering if there is a supplement that would encourage mane and tail growth. I am wondering about trying a hoof supplement since hooves and hair have tha same basic make up.
What do think Dr Getty?

Re: Mane and tail growth

Hi Carol,

Yes, you're correct in that assessment -- hair and hooves are both made of the same protein called keratin. So, a hoof supplement will also benefit hair production. I have several from which to choose, depending on what you may be already feeding. If you are not feeding flaxseed meal, my first choice would be to add that to the diet by giving the hoof supplement called BioFlax 20.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

All the best,

Re: Mane and tail growth

Thank you Dr. Getty
I have added b-complex as well as omega-3.
Another person posted about Palomino color.
I have two Palominos, I have been feeding a basic vitmin and rice bran and they just glow! The darker one I have had for a year and he really seems like he is darker this year but I think he is just in better shape with the good pasture this year as opposed to grass hay last year. My new one is more a medium Palomino, but his winter was almost white and he was in poor shape but he to is much healther with the good feed and vitimins.
Thanks again!

Carol

Hi Carol,

Yes -- you're on the right track! True hair color is an indication of good health and adequate nutrients in the diet.

Keep up the good work!
