Ration Plus with Glanzen

Hi Dr. Getty - How are you this fine COLD day. Yuck, I'd rather be riding but guess we gotta let the deer hunters have a weekend Anyway, I've got a quick question for you. I have my 3 on Ration Plus and the Glanzen, are they benifiting from them both or would the Glanzen be enough? They are all 3 getting the full 6 oz a day of the Glanzen and I do love it. I'm finding that the 20#'s is not going to last a month and will probably have to order the 40#'s but I do have to watch my budget. So was just wondering if they would be fine if I quit the Ration Plus and continued with the Glanzen. They are all very healthy and getting little pudgy hay bellies now. Thanks so much in advance for your concern.

Re: Ration Plus with Glanzen

Hi Vicky!

We're having a heat wave here! In the upper 50s and bright sunshine. Fantastic weather!

About the Ration Plus -- you likely do not need it in addition to Glanzen. The only time I would recommend both is if your horses need to gain weight, have ulcers, are very stressed, or you are travelling with them and they will be eating unfamiliar feed and/or pasture.

So, since I don't think any of these situations apply to you, you can stop the Ration Plus. Glanzen contains probiotics (live microbials) to assist with digestion, so you're covered there.

The Glanzen is one of my favorite feed supplements. I give it to my own horses.

Best regards,

Re: Ration Plus with Glanzen

Thank you so much for your quick response, and hey, send some of that warm air here to dry up all of our mud. Anyway thank you so much for your thoughts on the Ration Plus and Glanzen. I have about 3/4 of a bottle that does not expire till 08/09 so I will just keep it if I would need it for any of those things you listed, but like I said right now mine are getting quite the roly poly bellies so they don't need anything for weight gain. And Cash - since being on 6 oz of Glanzen I expermented with him and stopped the b-plex and the other stuff with Magnesium in it and he is soooooo calm, sometimes a dead head on the trails now Thank you so much and I VERY HIGHLY recommend the GLANZEN.

Re: Ration Plus with Glanzen

Hi Vicky,

Sounds like a plan! The Glanzen has plenty of B vitamins added (it contains the supplement B Plex), so that is likely what's making him so mellow.

Happy Thanksgiving!
