Feeding Hay Pellets

I am taking a pack trip this next summer to an area where there will be little grazing available. Can you tell me an approximate weight of grass hay pellets to equal one flake of hay?

Re: Feeding Hay Pellets

Hi Teresa,

Grass hay pellets are generally measured as 1.5:2 pounds of pellets to hay. So, 1.5 pounds of grass hay pellets is similar to 2 lbs of grass hay. Alfalfa is more concentrated and 1 pound of pellets is like 2 lbs of hay. Hay cubes are the same, pound for pound.

Have a wonderful trip!
