Glanzen and Accel

Hi Dr. Getty!

I have a question for a friend. She just bought her first bag of Glanzen Lite (not the new Glanzen Lite Complete)and previously she was feeding Accel. Her question is that she still has 2 months of Accel left and wants to know if it would be ok to combine 1 ounce of the Accel with the 4 ounces of Glanzen tell the Accel is gone. She is not sure if this would overload any of the vitamins and/or minerals and is thinking of holding off on the Glanzen until the Accel is gone. She uses a small amount of soaked alfalfa pellets as a carrier. The only reason she soaks the pellets is so the supplement sticks. She also feeds bermuda grass hay with a small amount of alfalfa hay on the side.

By the way, I feed the Glanzen lite and I love it. I know my friend will too.

Thanks!! Shana

Re: Glanzen and Accel

Hi Shana,

Not sure if she has Glanzen or Glanzen Lite. If she has Glanzen Lite, the normal dose is 4 ounces (2 scoops) so she would give 2 ounces (1 scoop) of Glanzen Lite and one scoop of Accel until the Accel is finished.

If she has original Glanzen, then the normal dosage is 6 ounces (3 scoops) per day. And, to adjust for Accel, she would give 4 ounces (2 scoops) of Glanzen and one of Accel until the Accel was finished.

Hope that helps clarify things. I'm delighted that you are finding Glanzen Lite helpful -- it really has a wonderful effect on a horse's health.

All the best,
