Hi Jami,
It's not that Safe Choice is a bad feed, it's just that I've found it to be inconsistent. So, it's better to go with a feed that you can rely upon to be the same, bag after bag. Purina has recently come out with a product called WellSolve L/S (low starch) that is worthwhile.
Remember to eliminate any sweet treats such as carrots and apples. Skode's Horse Treats are designed for the horse that needs to limit starch and sugar.
And have your hay analyzed for its sugar and starch content-- this is very helpful in evaluating the total diet.
