Hi Michelle,

Yes, this is commonly found in older horses where they do not get enough to eat due to competition. She should have approximately 2% of her body weight from hay and you can feed a hay replacer, such as cubes, along with a good vitamin/mineral supplement. Feed the supplement according to directions.

Be sure her teeth are in good health and that you have them floated at least once each year. She also needs to be on an adequate worming program.

If she's losing weight, talk to your barn manager about feeding more hay and consider adding Ration Plus to her diet.
