Re: Senior horse still sore in hocks.

Hi Christy,

I don't think she is getting too much glucosamine since the injections are typically 500 mg. However, I have found that in tough arthritis cases, providing silica in the form of orthosilicic acid is very effective. Silica is a mineral that is abundant in soil, but is very poorly absorbed from grass and hay. Orthosilicic acid is bioavailable and an important component of cartilage. I recommend Orthopur Si.

Please keep me posted.

All the best,

Christy
I'm currently giving my 19 yr. old mare Reitsport-HA100 Complete w/beet pulp and grass hay. She is also still getting a glucosamine shots once a month. She still walks as though she is very sore in her back end. The vet at one time told us she has some possible arthritis in one of her rear hocks. Her confirmation isn't the best, which isn't helpful. This horse is a great trail horse so I really want her feeling well. Is there anything more I need to be doing for her? Could she be getting too much glucosamine with the supplements and shots?
