Distal tarsitis syndrome

My horse has been diagnosed with distal tarsitis. He is only 6. The vet also said he has poor bone quality. What supplements would you advise to help with this? I already feed Cortaflex.

Thanks!

Re: Distal tarsitis syndrome

Hello Tara,

If your horse is experiencing pain, I recommend a buteless pain reliever such as Stop the Pain or SuPer Substitute.

However, if there is no pain, your goal is to provide hyaluronic acid along with antioxidants to ease inflammation and swelling.

Check to see that your joint supplement provides at least 100 mg of hyaluronic acid. If not, consider Actiflex 4000 or the powdered version.

I highly recommend SuPer Anti-Oxidant in addition to the joint prepration. The amount you offer will depend on whether or not you are already feeding a commercially fortified feed.

Keep me posted,
