Horse Tech MMX compared to Quiessence

Do you think Horse Tech MMX formula would be a good alternative to Quiessence. Price wise it looks better, and Horse Tech is a great company. Thanks for your opinion.

Re: Horse Tech MMX compared to Quiessence

Hi Kathy,

I looked at Horsetech's website and did not see something called "MMX." They do have MagOx on their custom products -- is this what you're referring to? If not, steer me in the right direction so I can find it.

If the MagOx is what you're asking about -- this is pure magnesium and if that is all your horse requires, it can be a good choice. For insulin resistant horses, however, I like to add some chromium to assist in lowering blood circulating levels of insulin. That is why I recommend Quiessence. Quiessence is also pelleted and tends to be more palatable than straight magnesium oxide.

MMX is listed under Calming Supplements along with Amiquell and Mare Berry. It's on the left hand side of their menu page. Thanks so much for your input.

Re: Horse Tech MMX compared to Quiessence

Hi Kathy,

Thank you for helping me find it. I like the large amount of thiamin (vitamin B1) in addition to magnesium as a method of calming the nervous sytem. Quiessence offers chromium, which makes it especially effective for insulin resistance. I will put this product on my website since I offer many of Horsetech's supplements.

Regarding cost, the 3.5 lb container provides 56 servings for $27.95 -- that's $0.50 per serving. Quiessence, which provides the same amount of magnesium per ounce, costs $0.48 per serving (80 servings for $38.55). So, they are actually about the same with Quiessence having the slight advantage. However, for calming, I do like the Horsetech MMX better. Thank you for letting me know about this.
