Re: Nutra Flora for laminitus

Hello Kathy,

Are you referring to "Nutra Flax?" Nutra Flax is stabilized flaxseed meal and is excellent for laminitic horses because of its omega 3 fatty acid content. Omega 3s lower circulating insulin levels, which cause laminitis.

In addition, I suggest giving your horse magnesium/chromium to further reduce circulating insulin levels. I recommend Quiessence. The fact that she has a cresty neck indicates that she has elevated insulin in her bloodstream, which leads to laminitis.

All the best,

I was reading that Nutra flora could poddible help with laminitis. I have a pony that has issues a couple times a yr. I feed her low sugar content hay, very limited pasture time with little or no grass in it. She doesn't seem to be overweight but her neck will crest when a bout of it comes on. What do you thik about starting her on some of the nutraflora. I got my info from horse.com

Thanks..........Kathy
