Follow up question re: feeding for potential EMS

Hi Dr Getty - Thank you for your response and suggestions. Regarding supplements. Would it be better to feed Carb X due to higher magnesium level instead of D-Carb?

Follow up question re: feeding for potential EMS

Hi Gina,

Actually they both have a similar amount of magnesium. The CarbX has 6,000 mg per ounce serving; the DCarb Balance has 2665 mg per 2 ounce serving and it is recommended that you feed 4 ounces per day.

The choice really would depend on whether or not you're already feeding a vitamin/mineral supplement. If you are, then go with the CarbX since it is not a vitamin/mineral supplement, but rather offers mineral, antioxidant and herbal support for insulin resistance.

If you are not, then go with the D Carb Balance. You can also add Carb X to D Carb Balance since more magnesium is usually appropriate for the IR horse and the herbs are also helpful in lowering circulating insulin levels.

All the best,
