Older mare with arthritis, concern about ulcers

I have a 16-year-old QH mare which we're treating with Legend monthly and Acetyl-D every other week. She's rough-boarded and there's no much pasture yet so the herd gets hay once a day. I'm having her checked out next week for potential ulcer issues. Can you recommend a supplement for the arthritis that also helps her disgestive system? Thanks!

Re: Older mare with arthritis, concern about ulcers

Hello Sue,

The best way to prevent ulcers, of course, is to keep forage flowing through the digestive tract at all times. This is because of the continuous acid secretion by the horse's stomach. Chewing produces saliva, a natural antacid.

In addition, there is a new supplement by Med Vet Pharmaceuticals called Exceed 6-Way that offers a great deal of digestive support while protecting joints, skin, and also hooves.

Keep me posted.

All the best,
