Re: Horse doesn't like the flax

Hello Holly,

Perhaps by now your mare has become accustomed to the Nutra Flax and she is enjoying it. But, if not, go back to feeding very little -- say one teaspoon -- and add some water so it mixes with the rest of her meal. Then slowly increase the amount.

You can also add some flavoring to her meal such as alfalfa pellets or broken cubes (both need to be moistened). Or you can use a flavored oil such as Aperti. Or try a couple of drops of banana flavored extract (that you buy in the grocery store) -- horses love bananas.

See if any of those things help. Keep me posted.

All the best,

Dr Getty,
I purchased the flax sold on your website & have started feeding my mare 2oz mixed with her feed. However she does not seem to like it as she is now not finishing her feed - which is very unusual for her as she does not get much & really enjoys it. I very much want to add this as part of her diet, do you have any suggestions to make it more palatable to her?
