Triple Crown Lite and Glanzen Lite

I want to make sure that since TC Lite is a fortified feed that I'm not over supplementing. She currently gets 2# TC Lite a day, MSM, 1 cup Rice Bran, and Dumor hoof supplement. I want to switch to 2# TC Lite, Glanzen Lite, 1 tblspoon paprika and MSM. With the Glanzen lite I figure I can avoid the hoof supplement and the rice bran. These amounts are split into two feedings.

Thank you,

Kimberly and Julia (Friesian)

Re: Triple Crown Lite and Glanzen Lite

Hello Kimberly,

Since you're feeding about half of the recommended 4 lbs per day of Triple Crown Lite, you could add Glanzen Liteat a half dose (1 scoop instead of 2 scoops). But, you would not get all of the hoof support that way.

What you could do instead is increase the TC Lite and use a flaxseed meal based hoof supplement such as BioFlax Ultra, or you could decrease the TC Lite to one pound per day, and give the full dose of Glanzen Lite. If extra calories are still needed, you can fill in the gap with some alfalfa or timothy pellets, or beet pulp.

Re: Triple Crown Lite and Glanzen Lite

Thank you Dr. Getty.

I have upped her TC lite to the 4 lbs and have been giving her the BioFlax ultra. This seems to be a good plan for her. As a snack she gets a cup of soaked beet pulp with a few alfalfa cubes. Even though she tends to be an easy keeper (when not in regular work) she is now working 6 days a week and needed the additional calories.

I just wanted to make sure that I should give her the full dose of BioFlax ultra with the 4 lbs of TCLite.

Thank you!

Re: Triple Crown Lite and Glanzen Lite

Hi Kimberly,

Yes, the full dose of BioFlax Ultra will be fine if she needs a strong level of hoof support. If her feet are generally healthy and you'd like a lesser amount of nutritional support, you can decrease the BioFlax Ultra or go with BioFlax20 next time. But, it is fine to feed the full amount of either one with the TC product.
