It was good to see in today's KC Star that the IRS ADDDED 27 Missouri counties including Cass and Carroll, to the list of those where residents will get more time to file taxes.

The extension is because of tornado damage during the March 12-13 weekend.

Taxpayers in those counties generally have until May 15 to file tax returns and other documents that would have been due April 17th. Taxpayers in those counties who have already filed federal and state returns for 2005 also have until May 15th to file amended returns if they want to deduct storm losses now rather than when 2006 returns are due.

Also Friday, the Missouri Department of Revenue formally adjusted state income tax deadlines in the affected counties to conform with the changed federal deadlines.
