How does one make a sub folder to a web site

I need to construct a sub folder to my web site and I'm not sure how to do this. From this folder I will run a shopping cart using a php program if I can get it to work. Does Bravenet allow this and how do I start. My site is www.havelock.net.nz
I need a sub folder that would be like this www.havelock.shop.net.nz Can this be done or could I just have havelock.net.nz/shop

Browser: IE

OS: Vista

Re: How does one make a sub folder to a web site

A subfolder is only in the format www.example.com/subfolder

If you want a sub domain (a totally different thing) then the format is subdomain.example.com

A subfolder is a function of your hosting account. Most hosting services, including Bravenet permit subfolders. Creating a subfolder would normally be done with your FTP programme.

A sub domain is set up by the company that manages your domain name. As yours is a .nz I assume that is a company other than Bravenet. You would need to talk to them about that. Many registrars support sub domains but it isn't necessarily a standard feature.
