I've added pictures and made changes to information and NOTHING is being saved. Im clicking all the right tabs - any ideas I've sat here for over two hours trying to change two pages - AHHHH!
I changed words and pics under the text/visual editor yesterday and everything looked good. whenyou go to my website none of my changes were made there. That makes two of us hope someone can help.
Well, I know your site is a Website Wizard creation, but I don't know about Kerrie's site. She didn't provide enough information for anyone to provide anything other than a guess.
Website Wizard creations can not be edited with ANY editor external to the Website Wizard. That means the Visual/Text editors available in the File Manager. The Website Wizards operates as a data base. Everything created in the Wizard, i.e. new page definitions, page content, service links, etc.., are saved in that data base. When you exercise the Wizards "publishing" utility, the data base is consulted and your pages are written to your site. This data base can only be modified from within the Wizard.
But because the files output by the "publishing" utility are now visible in the File Manager, there is a tendency to think you can mix the Visual/Text editors with your creation. Changing the files that the Wizard created during "publishing", DOES NOT change the Wizard's data base. So, the next time you go back into the Wizard and use the "publishing" utility, ALL of your changes will be overwritten. There is no "Are you sure?" questions. Even if there was a "Are you sure?", would you say no? I don't think so.
Some users try creating their pages initially using the Wizards and then switch over to using the Visual/Text editors in the File Manager. While there is nothing to stop you from doing this, it's almost always a poor idea and usually ends in disaster.
One of the reasons for this is, the inconsistencies between the Bravenet editors. The Wizard creations require a "DOCTYPE" tag as the first line of each web page. This line provides instructions to the visitors web browser, so it will interpret some of the HTML tags correctly. Without that line, your Wizard creation would start looking a little crazy. Sections would relocate to areas that were never intended. You can see this already in your navigation menu.
However, the Visual editor in the File Manager does not recognize this type of tag, and deletes it when your page is saved. Then, the only way to restore the structure is to use the Text editor and add it back in. That is, of course, if you knew exactly what to add back in. Or, go back to the Wizard and "publish". Which then overwrites all of your changes.
If you are using one of the Website Wizards, stay away from the Visual/Text editors.
