I recently had my pages on Bravenet analyzed to find out why I was being rejected by search engines especially since my editor is SEO, so all I have to do is transfer to Bravenet. When I received the report it stated I had 2 header tags and 2 closing header tags. I quickly checked my editor here at Bravenet and found only one set...which was good. However, when I viewed the page and clicked page source, there it was bold as life. I assume Bravenet must have placed it there after my page was published. How do I resolve this issue with the header tags? Should I remove my header tags? I also noticed they have changed some of my html as my body background= is now in the header section rather than BODY. Am I wrong?
If someone can help me with this, it would certainly be appreciated.
On free web sites, Bravenet does not insert advertising directly into the HTML file(s) on your web site. That would be too easy for users to delete. Instead, the advertisements are added dynamically, when a visitor requests your URL. That's something the users don't have any control over.
As the server processes the requested URL, it looks for the "body" tag. It then inserts the advertisements. It also adds more advertisements at the end, just before your "body" terminator. The advertisements effectively wrap the body of your web page in another complete set of "html", "head", and "body" tags.
It would be a really dumb idea removing your own header tags. When the Bravenet server is processing your HTML file(s), and it doesn't find the right place to go, the only code that will display is the advertisement. Your code will not display at all. A similar thing happens to users with frames based sites,, when they don't include a "body" section.
What can you do about it? The obvious answer is to get paid hosting. Paid hosting doesn't have any advertisements and eliminates the problem. Beyond that, look for a free site that doesn't have advertisements, like "http://www.awardspace.com/". The only issues that I had with AwardSpace is they were slow and often not accessible from everywhere.

Thank you so much for this info. I can understand them placing ads on the free sites but knowing it prevents their clients pages from being picked up? Wouldn't it be more profitable for them to allow it? I do have a host...unfortunately I've been trying to cut back on expenses. Guess it wasn't a such a good idea!
