Centered image w/in a table leaves a gap/space. How do u remove gap/space?

Whenever I center an image within a table, a gap appears. I would like to know how to get rid of the gap/space. Thank you so much for your help.

I am hoping that if you can answer my question that it will help me figure out how to fix another similar problem.

On the webpage:

I would like to replace the large white box with a slideshow, as I have done already on the webpage:

If you have any help you can offer on this particular problem, please help! I would very much appreciate it. (The gap on the web page: http://vfdra.jennswebdesign.org/test2.html is located at the bottom instead of the top).
