You are not supposed to be able to upload pdf files.
The information at this page says:
"4. Free hosting accounts are limited to the following file types:
.htm, .html, .shtml, .gif, .jpg, .png, .txt, .swf, .mid, .rmi, .au, .wav, .js, .css, .ico, .bmp, .class, .dcr
On the other hand, I just uploaded a pdf test file to a free site. Try doing it in File Manager instead of the applet.
Bravenet have made additional file types available to free hosting but haven't updated the applet to accept them. You need to use File Manager or a third party FTP program.
The published list is just the ones that the applet will accept, I don't know if a definitive list is available.
