I was only at WGS for two years and struggle to remember my classmates or masters\' names. I remember Mr. Wrenn very well though and considered him to be an excellent headmaster. I went on a school trip to Switzerland and Italy probably in 1964 and remember visiting Lucerne and Imperia(?) I was friendly with poor Michael, Mr. Wrenn\'s son who died tragically at the age of 21. He and Mr. Wrenn were on the trip. Masters \' Spike \' and Rob Taylor are uppermost in my memories.

What is your occupation?

Free speech area:

The best thing about this school was leaving it. Luckily, I only had to put up with two years before my family left the area. I remember the bullies, both on the staff and the pupils. And I don\'t mean those teachers who were hard but fair either, but those who delighted in belittling pupils and beating them with whatever came to hand, including plimsolls to which they\'d given a name. These people were among the main reasons I became a school isnpector, so I could root out the sadists and poor teachers.
