Liverpool Singing Auditions for Open Mic UK singing competition.

Liverpool singing Competition Open Mic UK is the biggest music competition in the UK for singers, rappers and solo artists to showcase their music, and auditions are starting in August 2011. The singing competition is open to all ages.

Hurricane Films have an ongoing social project entitled Liverpool Lives: People's Stories, it looks at Liverpool memories through it's people no matter how long they lived there.

I was wondering if we could film a few acts and interviews with acts and attendees(with permissions) on your next night 6th Sept.

The lovely Miss Mary and I have been frequenting the Egg for a few years now but never seemed to make it to one of the open mic nights... until May! This was truly a happy accident, we popped in on what we thought was a random Monday evening only to be seated just in time for the first set!

We loved it that much we brought a couple of newbies this month and are looking forward to next month when hopefully I shall perform as a first timer!

Psychosis and Money

What is it then that makes them pray,
that makes them creep and crawl all day,
that makes them read some silly script,
their pride and confidence slyly stripped ?

What is it then that transfers their minds,
to heavens and angels and spiritual kinds,
to attend Cathedrals in little groups,
then dress in robes as exemplar troops ?

What is it then that makes them build,
on fertile land where food was tilled,
huge Mosques, Cathedrals too,
just to sing and confess anew?

Does it help in anyway,
to wile away the hours of day,
dressed in best and on their knees,
praying to anything and making pleas?

Is it selfishness that makes them think,
we all need them to cower and shrink,
on our behalf at their request,
so that our souls be sublimely blessed?

The whiff of selfishness stirs the air,
I think it’s just themselves they care,
the work is easy and less to think,
from competition they wilt and shrink.

This God they advocate with fuss,
when ask for proof, they won’t discuss,
O proof, O proof; what for you need ?
the devils home you’ll go with speed.

My lucid mind begins to stir,
I’m in the hands of a blackmailer,
I only ask; for what your sales?
they came back as hard as nails.

So business then shall prevail,
In Woolworth’s by an honest sale,
the Church an inquisition me thinks,
proof of God surely brinks.

After climbing the stairs and getting to the comet I was sweating, so LYNK before hand, staff, people,acts and food fantastic, Bar one bizzy body telling us to be quite whilst eating when the acts were on. to be fair the kitchens pots and pans were havin riot, which was ok by me and the bizzy bod.it seemed.,

I just love this place, and - if you still have it - applecrumble.. the best ever! Enjoyed my semester abroad chilling out at the Egg cafe. Thank you guys!

I've been quite a few times over the last couple of years and really enjoyed the night- this week was no exception. However, I thought the blonde waitress was extremely rude- I object to being told to shut up "becuase the poetry is on" when I am trying to order a drink! I know the poetry is on, that's what I've come to see and I can't communicate my order with speaking!

Liverpool but at Uni in South Wales

I found this place as a 16 year old and loved it. I then found out about the poetry nights through eating there and chatting to people. It's a really good entertaining night out (which doesn't involve drunks) I've brought uni friends up from all over the country to come to evenings and everyone's really enjoyed themselves (so much so, i've got people from the Midlands and London coming back up in August!)
