I just finished reading your story about your pup Delilah. I currently just found out my Great Dane, Satchmo, age of 2yrs old has been diagnosed with having Wobbler's. I am looking for any alternative than surgery. After reading your story there is hope. |

I have a 70 lb Pitbull named Moe. We took him to the vet the Friday before b/c he wasn't acting like himself. He was limping on his front right paw, thinking it was arthritis. We took him to get joint supplements for him. We left the vet Friday evening, & felt good that he only had arthritis. He turned 8 years old the next day, Saturday, 9/25/2010. That afternoon, he started to "wobble;" unable to hold himself up, making a fist w/ his front left paw. I was scared. My Aussie bumped into him, a dog 1/2 his size, and knocked Moe down. I knew something was bad wrong. I took him back to the vet Monday. He was getting progressively worse. With no answers, the vet was baffled. After a hard, stressful day blood work for cushions & thyroid issues were negative. Took Moe to another vet for a 2nd opinion. He felt like it was wobblers b/c he had a Doberman w/ the same symptoms & conditions. We have an appt for Moe to see a chiropractor this Saturday. I don't know if this chiropractor does acupunture but he was VERY familiar w/ the disease. To see Delilah live as long as she did AFTER finding out she had wobblers, give my husband & I ALOT of hope for our precious Moe. |

Thank you so much for this site!! I have a 5 year old pitbull named Toby. About a month ago I noticed he was having problems getting up. I thought he was just sick or pulled something. It got worse fast. He has so much trouble getting up and then he looks drunk when he walks. I took him to the vet and they thought it was just an injury. He loves going to the vet so much that he was not acting wobbly like he was at home and I had to video tape him so they could see what I saw at home. Their conclusion was wobblers and they want me to take him to a specialist to make sure. They said he will probably need surgery. I made an appointment with the specialist for this coming monday (march 29, 2009). I was looking up treatments and the effects of surgery and came across you site. I AM SO GLAD I FOUND THIS!!! I seen that surgery could cause permanent paralysis and that scared the crap out of me cuz there would be no way I could take care of him if he was paralyzed without changing my whole life and house to accommodate him. I was so scared of losing him. And you also mention that there could be no playing with other dogs which would just break Toby's heart, not to mention his brother Romeo's heart! I am so excited to hear about the gold beads and to contact Dr. Terry Durkes and find out if he can help Toby! Thank you again! I now have hope that Toby will be fine!! |

Three weeks ago Bear had what we thought was a seizure and we took him to the vet. They thought it could be his heart or that he may have the start of wobblers because of checking his back left paw the moved it backwards on him and it took him a little bit to pull it forward again. The only signs that he still is showing for anything is he walks with his back legs a little wider apart. He is back to playing and bouncing around as he always has. I am glad Delilah is doing good and that you posted about her story. I am going to try and contact Dr. Durkes and talk to him about Bear. Thanks for your help. At less now I know wobblers doesn't mean I have to loss my baby. |

Dear Joanne & Delilah, Thankyou so much for sharing your experience. My 2 1/2 year old Doobie just developed problems last week. It was very sudden and I've just been a wreck. I hope I can find someone in Oregon that does the gold bead procedure. God bless, Janie & Doobie |

I came across your site after I googled Wobblers. I have a 22 month old English Mastiff, she may also have some Dane in her genetic line, although we are not sure. She is built more like a Dane than a Mastiff, as she has extremely long legs and is much leaner than most Mastiffs. She has been experience intermittent pain in her joints and due to her symptoms a neurologist suggested Wobblers. We were told there wasn't much that could be done without her first having a $3000 MRI. I am trying to save for that as we speak, but I feel my money would be better spent on an actual treatment than just the diagnostics. I love my baby, and will do anything I can for her. However, I want to spend my money wisely in order to maximize how effectively it will treat Deogee. Did you have to have an MRI first? What did other vets tell you? Any advice you can give is a Godsend! I stumbled across this website by the grace of St. Jude helper of the hopeless, as I have felt hopeless over the past few days. Anything you can suggest again, is tremendously appreciated. |

Ballou is a merle Great Dane. She's 18 months old and has had problems since she was about 8 months old. The vet we were seeing kept saying her muscles and tendons needed to catch up to her growing bones. Ballou is beautiful and intelligent, but unable to stand or walk for very long. She's also not full size (and did I mention she's deaf?) We recently saw a new vet who referred us to another one. They both agreed there was something neurological going on - her weakness is mostly on the right-side - and suggested she might have had a stroke. After more than $300 worth of x-rays, they now think she has Wobblers (which is what I thought months ago). We're torn about what to do for her and my husband wants to try water therapy (swimming) hoping her muscle mass will increase with the exercise. We lover her but don't want to put her through expensive surgical procedures that may or may not work. I believe in vitamins and am interested in alternative therapies - like chiropractics or accupressure. Does the gold bead procedure really work? I've been told there are some possible side effects and risks. Thanks for listening. Andrea |
