Summer grazing and adjusting feed

I am feeding the recommended 2 scoops of Glanzen Lite Complete daily. When the horses start grazing for 12 out of 24 hours, should I adjust this amount down? It seems this would be too much with what pasture (Timothy, clover, alfalfa, rye, Kentucky blue) will provide. They will have grass hay for the 12 hours off pasture. Thanks!

Re: Summer grazing and adjusting feed

Hi Kim,

Yes, you are right -- if your horse is getting more than 8 hours of pasture grazing each day, and the pasture is healthy (not overgrazed or stressed), you can either adjust the Glanzen Lite Complete down to 1 scoop per day. Or, if you like to have the additional hoof support and extra B vitamins, switch to original Glanzen Lite at the 2 scoop/day level.

If your horse is exercised regularly, in training, or performing, I recommend increasing the vitamin E level beyond what pasture can provide. There are 1250 IU of vitamin E in one scoop of Glanzen Lite Complete and only 150 IU of vitamin E in one scoop of Glanzen Lite.
It is best to provide approximately 2-5 IU of vitamin E per lb of body weight, depending on the exercise level.

All the best,
