Hello Catherine,

Thank you for your patience -- I am discontinuing this forum for the time-being.

By now, hopefully your horse has healed. But, for future reference, adequate circulation and immune system function is essential in preventing abscesses. Antioxidants are key, as well as B vitamins. PreOx in a double dose would be my first approach. You can always add more vitamin C, up to 15,000 additional mgs (the PreOx at a double dose has 5,000 mg of vitamin C).

Dear Dr Getty,
What specific vitamins or minerals would you recommend for horses prone to foot abscesses? particularly painful sub-solar abscess, that are very slow to supurate.
