I visited the Globe pub for a few beers just after the two fellas in the picture. Does anyone else remember the peat fire burning and stinking the place out, bars on the windows and the decor was football teams beer towels? Those were the days, windy days that brought a tear to your eye.

Big question is, did you go from there to the tiny NAAFI bar just a short walk away or did you go to the Victory (memory is bad, it might have been 'the ship')

I donated a Sunderland scarf to the gallery above the bar in Oct/Nov '82...on the proviso that it was placed, and remained, above a Newcastle rag that was also there. Obviously I was duty bound to make regular visits to the hostelry to ensure my instructions were complied with!
