Re: EPSM and herbs

Hi Joy! So nice to hear from you and I'm delighted that your horse is doing well.

I am not a big fan of using herbs without knowing what possible side effects and interactions can occur. Herbs contain drugs in diluted forms and these drugs can produce side effects. So, proceed with caution.

It is very important to keep his electrolytes in order, as well as enough calcium and magnesium. He is likely getting enough calcium from his forage, but you may want to consider adding Quiessence to his diet. I don't know what supplements you're providing, but be sure that he's getting enough B vitamins along with omega 3 fatty acids, say from flaxseed meal.

Keep me posted!
