Welcome to Beagles On The Web!

Whether you are a Beagle owner, rescuer, or simply someone who appreciates learning about the breed, I hope that as you look around this site you will find valuable information and useful links. And, don't forget to visit the adoption postings if you have room for one more.

In trying to remain responsive to my readers' needs, I've decided it's time to open up an avenue for BOTW readers to express themselves. So you are invited to use this area as a section to share your comments. You can give feedback on the BOTW site, talk about the breed, rescue, tell your dog's story, or anything at all involving this nose on 4-legs we all love. And hopefully we can all learn from our shared experiences.

Sit! Stay! Enjoy!

Thinking about adopting a beagle after we lost our beagle to Addison's disease from Cushings disease. Mr. JD was about 13 1/2 years old. I miss my little shadow terribly!

LOVE the Christmas tree/puppy video but really like the Beagle catching the Frisbee - what a very good classroom student :).

I just adopted a beagle who is older out of shape and overweight. I work at a rescue and thought he was just the sweetest thing. When we received him at the rescue he was quite overweight. But through me and others working with him he lost a few pounds but he is still 47 pounds!
I look forward to reading all the information on your site. I know little about them other then as the other poster said a nose on legs.

I was reading your comments as I was looking for information on whether or the Thundershirt works on a beagle and their barking - as you know ...no other dog barks like a beagle.

And I read your description of a beagle and I have to disagree with one thing.

I have a 5 year old pure breed beagle and Lucy hardly sheds at all. Twice a year, in the spring, and in the fall she sheds a bit..but nothing excessive at all. I've had her since she was 8 weeks old. Maybe it's her family, maybe it's her food (she eats high quality organic food)..but she doesn't shed.

If anyone can let me know if the Thundershirt works on the a beagle's bark, I'd appreciate it.

Carolyn

I have a 4 year-old female Beagle named Sniffer. My wife and I adopted her from a local animal shelter in March 2010. Sadly, my wife passed away about 6 months later, and now Sniffer is my only companion. She is an absolutely wonderful little dog and is my best friend. I am so blessed to have her as a companion.

Hey! I adopted a Beagle on July 13th, 2011! First dog of my life. I have always owned cats. His name is Ollie and he is 2 years old. With two kids going off to college, he is the answer to my "empty nest." He is the sweetest little pup, a real God-send. We love him more than words can say.
We found him at a "no-kill" shelter. Who knew that one could find such a wonderful dog at a shelter? I, ignorantly, did not know! Like I said, he is Heaven sent. <3
