George, Lori, Melissa, Justin, and families...
I was deeply saddened to hear about Barb\'s unexpected passing... The news really caught me off guard and is still trying to sink in. I think it\'s harder when there are so many miles separating us. For me, my days haven\'t changed in the same way they have for you, the family, but there is a deep sadness for the loss you are all experiencing. Barb was larger than life, and I am so sorry for the huge void in your lives now that she is no longer with us. As I type those words, I\'m sure you have all experienced her presence in one way or another, and if you haven\'t yet felt it, you will. She is, and always will be with you, as you carry her in your heart and in your memories. My deepest love and condolences to all of you!!

The memories....
The Daniels family moved to Freeport at the beginning of my senior year of high school, in 1977. I remember Barb helping with Marching band practices, and boy was band a lot different (in a good way)! I was a bit of a shy kid, and I remember being intimidated by her! haha....I laugh about it now, because I don\'t think it took her too long to figure me out...quiet, shy, and not very confident! She kinda took me under her wing, and those early feelings of intimidation turned into a wonderful friendship! In addition to being involved in music, I also played sports. Barb used to call me almost every night after I got home from practice, just to see how I was doing and to chat. As I reflect on it now, it was Barb who was instrumental in pulling me out of my shell, and got me to be more talkative. Not easy for a shy kid, but she just had a knack for know how to reach a kid. I started babysitting for Lori, Melissa, and Justin, and quickly fell in love with the family. They hold a very special place in my heart! Both George and Barb talked me into competing in the state solo contest. I had never, EVER considering doing such a thing!! I will always remember being told, \"If you practice a little harder, you could be first chair.\", to which I responded, \"But, I don\'t want to be first chair!\" Who says that????!!! LOL The shy kid who doesn\'t want to sit out front where everyone can see them! That\'s who! Still, somehow, these two awesome people managed to convince me to perform a solo! There is a funny story that goes along with my audition, but the important thing is I got a Division I rating and brought home a medal. That accomplishment is the one thing I am the most proud of in all of my high school achievements. It\'s the one thing that I never thought I could do, or would\'ve ever tried to do, if not for two amazing people. Honestly, I\'m not sure I\'ve ever been so scared, so I couldn\'t be more thankful that Barb was there with me!! It\'s also a good thing it was my senior year, so I would never have to go through that again!! haha... Barb also played at my wedding....yet another special memory.... I will always remember her crazy laugh (I think I can still hear it), and funny faces she could make, which always cracked me up! I miss all of that....but I am so thankful for the memories. Thank you, Barb, for being such an important part of my life!! I love you!!

I knew her as “B”...knock on the garage door, enter...and get the hell down stairs as fast as ya can...if I was too loud or out of tune, a good pounding on the basement ceiling was heard...and some yelling, mostly unrecognizable...and we were all very grateful...much love and respect...peace and rest my friend

I first met Mrs. Daniels in my freshman year of high school at FPCHS. To be honest, she scared me at first! She was very (sometimes brutally) honest and wouldn’t be afraid to tell you if you weren’t practicing hard enough! However, that was one of the things I admired most about her. She always pushed me to do my best and to be the best I could be! She inspired my love of music and so much more. I remember we’d spend hours together in a practice room, talking about music, life, and her family. Nobody was more important to her than her husband, kids, and grandkids, and I loved and admired that about her. She was truly an angel on this earth and I will always keep her in my heart and memory.

George and Barb -- such a Dynamic Duo...you touched SO many (used to be) young people like me (#! Jazz Band, Regis High 1972 !!!).

You made all of us better, just by being in our lives. We spent so much time just hanging out, visiting with you two, and laughing a lot! Too many good thoughts to single any out.

George (sorry...\"Mr. D\") and Justin this wonderful tribute to your lives together has given me a BIG smile. And, I\'ll admit, I\'m tearing up more than a little right now. You are loved, thank you for taking me along for a too-short part of your lives.

i was very touched and sorry to hear of Barbara\'s passing. She was an amazing lady. I first met her at Spruce Creek High school where she was serving as the accompanist for several band students. We struck up a conversation and I immediately fell in love with her. She was simply amazing, and the stories she told me about her early jobs accompanying were unforgettable. To know that she started playing so very early and was such an accomplished musician stayed with me. I saw her her several times at vocal festivals , and at one school where i had been asked to give a critique on the choir. What fun we had discussing the director who had no idea that he was getting her expert advice and refused to listen! We have lost a caring , talented and wonderful musician. Please know that my thoughts go out to you. She will be sorely missed. I know that she is somewhere in heaven accompanying a choir of fabulous singer and thrilling very one with that beautiful touch that only she pocessed.

I always remember Barb\'s energy and her great piano playing. She always told like it is and pushed each group she worked with to elevate their music for each performance. She was really good with kids and we enjoyed having her around in high school and college years. George and Barb gave much to the Freeport high school and music community during their years there and we are eternally grateful. We will miss her dearly but know that her energy and talent lives on in the many, many students she taught during the years.

George, Lori. Melissa & Justin, Sending my deepest sympathy and prayers. Barb and I were inseparable during our college years, since then miles have separated us but we still remained best friends and kept contact with one another. I cherish the memories of our times (and antics) together during those days. Barb was my accompanist. She was an absolute first rate musician and pianist as demonstrated on her website, and her sight-reading skills were unmatched. Rest In Peace my dear Barb. May the angels lead you to paradise. ❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️
