On behalf of Gifford Community Council, just wanted to say how sad we were to hear about John's death, which is a great loss to the local community. He did a fantastic job in creating Gifford Online, which is visited by people from all over the world, as well as being much loved by village peole. Long may his great work continue and thanks, John, for all your work. You will be greatly missed. |

Just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear about John. He was a great help with the newsletter and his Gifford Online site is brilliant - he really put Gifford on the map. I hope someone might be able to carry on his great work. |

It is with great regret that Gifford On-Line announces the death of its creator and Editor John Dodds. He died suddenly at his home in Gifford on the 12th of January 2009. He was 54. A full update will be posted on the website shortly, which will continue to operate in his memory. |

Wow - I can't believe it - I'm soon to celebrate my civil partnership with my long term boyfriend Gary Ifford. Imagine my surprise when googling his name to find this site! I thought it would be so much fun to come to Gifford for our honeymoon as a surprise for him - I wondered if anyone could offer any advice on places to stay. He'd be so happy and I'm sure I'd be rewarded handsomely (if you know what I mean - hehe) Thanks Luvvies Mark |

I used to cycle to Gifford with my sister in the summer holidays, it was a long ride but worth it, my family moved south to Birmingham when I was fourteen and I look back on those days with great fondness, even though I never lived in the village, I am a huge fan, you could say I am the biggest Gifford around!! |
